Sugar Farms Marketplace Open House

Local Artisans, Local Wine, Local Food, Local Non-Profits… Let’s get together and show some love for our locals!

Join us in celebrating the talented local artisans that make up Sugar Farms Marketplace with an Open House Celebration. But wait, there’s not going to be just ONE Open House Celebration at Sugar Farms Marketplace… There’s going to be THREE!

Sugar Farms is an artisanal marketplace that offers primarily locally sourced gifts that are handmade and/or one-of-a-kind. They offer products for the keen buyer wanting something that is not only unique but also of high-quality. The marketplace, located in the courtyard of Carmel Plaza, features various vendor stalls focusing on each artisan’s creation telling a small story about not just the product but also the creator of the product. This unique shopping experience allows buyers see exactly how the product came to be and by whose hands it was created.

On Friday, February 11th, February 25th and March 11th, from 5PM – 8PM we invite you to meet the artisans, see their creations up close, ask questions, experience the wonder and enjoy yourself while supporting local artisans, sipping local wine from Hahn Family Winery and enjoying tasty small bites from various locations including local favorite, The Cheese Shop. There will also be opportunities to enter fun raffles and giveaways as well as to learn more about a few local non-profits. Details for each night are below:

Spend National Drink Wine Day At Carmel Plaza

Every year, on February 18th, wine lovers across the nation celebrate the social media buzz worthy holiday referred to as #NationalDrinkWineDay which also happens to be, unofficially anyway, everyday in the village of Carmel-By-The-Sea.

Carmel Plaza is fortunate to be home to the tasting rooms of three wonderful local wineries, Blair Estates, Hahn Family Wines and Wrath Winery. Although all three are Monterey County wines and offer a pinot noir and chardonnay to write home about they possess very distinctive characteristics from one another.

From the diverse palates and aromas of the wines to the different ambiances in which to enjoy them in, each tasting room offers its guest a unique experience… both locals and visitors will enjoy.

Below is a little more about each tasting room.

Wrath Wines

Wrath produces site-driven Pinor Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc from its estate vineyard and respected properties in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Its production is small, its distribution is limited and its wines reveal a passion and an inherent respect for what a vineyard can give us. Wrath’s viticulture and wine-making methods are designed to showcase the topography, geology and climate of a finite, naturally redefined piece of land. While all of Wrath wines posses accurate varietal characteristics, their real strength is their ability to deliver the unique aromatics, flavors and textures of a specific terrain.

Hahn Family Wines

Producer of award-winning handcrafted wines from the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County for more than 30 years. Focusing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Rhone varietals to pair with amazing foods. Today, Hahn Family Wines owns one of the largest shares of planted vines in the region, equaling more than 650 SLH vineyard acres that range in elevation from 200 to 1,200 feet. The vineyards offer a diverse selection of terroir for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other grape varieties. The brands of Hahn Family Wines include Hahn SLH, Hahn, Lucienne, Smith & Hook and Boneshaker.

Hahn Family Wines is currently offering a special Valentine’s Day – Presidents’ Day tasting, Love at First Flight; CLICK HERE for details.

Blair Estate

Blair is a small Artisan Winery situated in the Arroyo Seco AVA of Monterey County California. They operate as a tribute to their Grandmother, Delfina Robasciotti Sciaroni, who immigrated to this special place in 1923. She was 18 years old and following a dream when she left her home in Switzerland and traveled to France to board a ship and cross the Atlantic to Ellis Island, unsure of what lay ahead. She left Ellis Island and arrived in what later would become her home for 72 years. She would give us, her Grandchildren, a passion for great food and fine wine as she told us to always follow our dreams, regardless of how big they might be. 5 generations later we are following those dreams and producing great traditional Burgundian Style Pinot Noir from our own vineyards.

Visit any, or all three, of the Carmel Plaza wine tasting rooms on plaza level. We hope to see you at Carmel Plaza soon.

Cheers!

New Year… New Restaurant!

After opening quietly last month we would like to make a lot of noise and officially welcome Yeast of Eden to Carmel Plaza.

Join us this coming Thursday, January 17, 2019, for their official opening and Carmel Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting. The evening will kick off around 4:30pm.

UPDATE: Due to the recent weather the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony has been changed to Wednesday, January 23rd at 4:30pm.

For their grand opening, Yeast of Eden is partnering with the Food Bank For Monterey County by donating 100% of the proceeds from sales that evening.

If you have not already we encourage you to stop into the restaurant & brewery, located on the south side of Carmel Plaza, find your spot amongst the 120 restaurant (plus 40 outdoor patio) seats and enjoy one of their popular mixed fermentations paired with mouthwatering selections from their global, street food-inspired menu. We suggest trying the crispy battered Saigon wings tossed in a spicy fish sauce caramel as well as the kobe grind “Publican” burger with rosemary & sage frites… but, rumor has it you cannot go wrong with whatever you order.

Yeast of Eden, which started as a side project for Alvarado Street Brewery, has a small, on-site brewery to produce limited batch, terroir-driven beers. The brewery, considered “nano” in scale, will produce just 150 gallons at a time and feature malt and hops grown in California. Although recognized for their beer, Yeast of Eden offers a full bar and are slowly building out a promising cocktail program.

Starting January 17, 2019 Yeast of Eden will be open from 11:30 am to 10 pm, Sunday through Wednesday, with kitchen hours extended until 11 pm and the bar open until midnight, Thursday through Saturday.
